Undoubtably many visitors to The Lake District come to walk in the magnificent and varied landscape.  In addition, visitors discover that the Lake District has much to offer and is full of wonderful things to do and places to visit. Windermere Lakes Cruises

Windermere Lake  Cruises  are a most popular  attraction in Cumbria.   Windermere is England's largest  lake, in the heart of the Lake  District.  They offer cruises  from 45 minutes to 3 hours - or  you can even spend all day on  and around the lake with their  fantastic 'Freedom of the Lake'.  

Rydal Hall in Rydal

Enjoy a lovely walk through these impressive grounds and finish with a visit to the dog friendly cafe overlooking the falls. 

Brockhole Visitor Centre in Ambleside

Activities for all of the family in a wonderful lakeside setting just outside of Ambleside. The latest addition is the Tree Top Trek with an exciting zip wire finish.  

Dove Cottage in Grasmere

Visit Wordsworth's home and museum in Grasmere-a must see trip when staying in the area much loved by the Lakeland poets. Follow by a drink or a bite to eat in Wilf's Cafe  

St Oswalds Church in Grasmere  

The picturesque Church set in the lovely village of Grasmere is named after St Oswald, a 7th Century Christian King of Northumberland, who is  said to have preached on this site. It is the parish church of Grasmere, Rydal and Langdale,  and each township has its own separate gate into the churchyard. Visit the pretty graveyard to see where William Wordworth and members of his family are buried including former residents of Stepping Stones. 

Rheged Centre in Penrith

More further afield but a favourite with families, the Lake District visitor attraction located just 15 minutes from Tebay Services. An international award winning day out, Rheged is Europe's largest grass covered building, designed to resemble a Lakeland hill.  It offers artisan shops, a cinema, kids play area, craft sessions and events. 

The Old Laundry Theatre in Bowness

Check out the forthcoming events offering a wide range of performances to tempt you. 

Hill Top in Near Sawrey 

The home of the famous children's writer and illustrator set in the lovely Lakeland village of Near Sawrey. 

Zeffirellis Cinemas and Restaurants in Ambleside

Zeffirellis offers a jazz bar, 3 cinemas and 2 lovely vegetarian restaurants. Check out the 'meal deals' for a great evening of cinema and dinner.

Beatrix Potter Museum in Bowness

At The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, you can discover Peter Rabbit,  Jemima Puddle-Duck and all their friends in a magical indoor recreation of Beatrix Potter's little books, complete with the sights, sounds and smells of the countryside. 

The Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal 

Offers theatre, dance, exhibitions, cinemas, music, workshops, youth drama and dance. 

The Theatre by the Lake in Keswick

Enjoy a drive through magnificent Lakeland scenery to Keswicks renowned theatre. Performances include music and theatre productions as well as family friendly offerings.
